Last year former Gossip Girl star Blake Lively was battling a shark in the Shallows, starred in Woody Allen’s Cafe Society, and was one of the leads in the dramatic thriller All I See Is You, but since then she’s been relatively quiet on the moving making front. In all fairness though she’s been pretty busy taking care of her newborn daughter that she had with husband Ryan Reynolds last September. All that is about to change however, and it’s now been announced that she’s got a new project on the horizon.
Chris and Paul Weitz are producing CBS Films’ adaptation of The Husband’s Secret, and Blake Lively has now been announced to not only be the star, but one of the executive producers as well. The film is based on the book of the same name by the New York Times best-selling author of Big Little Lies, Liane Moriarty. No director is currently attached to the project however.
The Husband’s Secret is about a wife who discovers a note from her still alive husband that states she is only to open it in the event of his death. The note leads her to finding out about a series of lies, including a covered-up murder, which opens her eyes to the reality of her once thought to be perfect relationship.
With the success of Little Big Lies on HBO, it’s no surprise that The Husband’s Secret has suddenly started to gain traction and being quickly moved towards production.
